BHS, VHS track teams open seasons at St. James, Osage

Robbed of their meet at Hermann last Thursday due to inclement weather, Belle High School track athletes opened their season last Tuesday at St. James while Vienna’s Eagles and Lady Eagles started their track campaign at School of the Osage Friday night.

Winning events for Vienna at Osage Friday night included Riley Rosentreter in the girl’s pole vault clearing 2.74 meters and Andrea Novak in the girl’s long jump with a leap of 4.51m.

Ava Kloeppel also posted a second-place mark of 9.63m in the girl’s shot put.

Max Steffen (1.75m) and Danniel Casey (11.46m) placed third in the boy’s high jump and shot put events respectively.

Casey also posted a second-place throw of 41.70m in the boy’s javelin.

Placing sixth in the boy’s 4x200-meter relay in 2:00.15 was the Eagle quartet of Landon Carnes, Garret Jones, Jackson Kilmer and Casey.

Also taking third in 2:01.07 during the girl’s 4x200m relay was the Lady Eagle team of Tori Schulte, Aubrey Reeves, Kadence George and Madison Weeks.

Last Tuesday at the St. James Open, both Belle Lady Tiger and Tiger track teams placed sixth in their respective team standings.

Leading the Tigers with second-place finishes were Corey McDaniel with a time of 12:11.82 in the boy’s 3200-meter run and Keith Rose clearing 1.80m in the boy’s high jump.

Tajel McDaniel also posted a second-place time of 15:19.86 in the girl’s 3200m run for Belle’s Lady Tigers.

Finishing behind McDaniel, Baylar Smith placed third in the 3200m run with a time of 12:24.78.

Belle’s boys 4x800m relay team of Barrett Finnegan, Baylar Smith, Rose and McDnaiel placed third in 9:55.14.

Also taking fourth in a time of 4:26.44 was the Tiger 4x400-meter relay team of Will Does, Lukas Smith, Rose and Finnegan.
