Bettie Jane (Bowen) Jones, 89, Hot Springs, Ark., formerly of St. James, passed away on Aug. 30, 2022.

She was born on May 29, 1933, to Thomas Franklin Bowen and Sarah Elizabeth (Pruitt) Bowen in Bland.

She was united in marriage to Donald Lee Jones, Sept. 11, 1955.

Bettie was a nurse and worked in several areas of the profession, before retiring from Missouri Veteran’s Home in St James. After her retirement, she and Don moved to Hot Springs, Ark., where she continued to work as a nurse in home health, and also as a substitute nurse for First Step, a school for special needs children and adults. She also volunteered weekly at the Charitable Christian Medical Clinic, providing health care to those without insurance or means to pay for it. Bettie also volunteered weekly at The Caring Place, a Methodist Church sponsored program providing respite care for individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Bettie is preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Sarah; husband Don Jones; brother Thomas E. Bowen; twin sister Bonnie June Mosher; and Robert Lee Bowen (infant).

She is survived by children Stephen Jones and April (Jones) Hunt (Coby); three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Delores Bowen.

Funeral services will be Wednesday (today), Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, St. James, with Bro Jim Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at the Bowen Cemetery.
