Falling to Newburg and Cuba during pool play at the Belle Boys Basketball Tournament, Chris Feeler’s Belle varsity Tigers capped the week Saturday facing their junior varsity counterparts in the consolation championship game.

Belle’s JV Tigers filled out the tournament after Chamois had to withdraw due to COVID-19.

Leading 25-13 at halftime, Belle’s varsity Tigers outscored their JV counterparts 39-10 in the second half to post a 64-23 victory.

Taking a 15-5 lead after one quarter, Lane Feeler and Gentry Dunn each led the varsity Tigers with five first-quarter points.

Logan Stratman paced Belle’s JV Tigers with three points in the first eight minutes.

At halftime, Feeler led the varsity Tigers with eight first-half points while Baylar Smith had four first-half points to lead the JV Tigers.

In a 22-8 third quarter won by the varsity Tigers, Jace Gieck and Dunn both scored eight points to lead Belle’s varsity.

Kaiden Robertson, Kameron Newton, Brayden Cadwallader and Stratman all scored two points apiece for Belle’s JV Tigers in the third quarter.

During the final eight minutes, Smith scored the lone two points for Belle’s JV Tigers.

Feeler (10) and Thomas Lingo (7) combined to score all 17 points for Belle’s varsity Tigers in the fourth quarter.

For the game, Feeler led the varsity Tigers equaling his uniform number scoring 22 points.

Thomas Lingo followed in double figures with 14 points in addition to 13 points from Dunn and 11 from Gieck.

Jeb Seaver and Shane Baumgartner capped the scoring for Belle’s varsity with two points apiece.

Gieck made it a double double pulling down 12 rebounds to go along with five assists and four steals.

Smith paced the JV Tigers with six points, four rebounds and three steals.

Stratman followed closely behind Smith with five points.

Robertson chipped in four points followed by two markers apiece for Cole Loughridge, Clayton Shockley and Newton.

Tournament action Friday kicked off with a Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) showdown between the host Tigers and Cuba’s Wildcats.

Trailing the entire first half, Belle outscored Cuba 14-5 in the third quarter to take a 28-25 lead into the final eight minutes.

Leading 37-36 with :51 ticks on a Thomas Lingo basket, Cuba’s Tucker Brown scored with :28 left leaving Belle on the wrong end of a 38-37 final score.

Scoring 12 second-half points, Thomas Lingo led the Tigers and all scorers with a game-high 19 points.

Feeler just missed double figures scoring all nine of his points on free throws.

Gieck added seven points while Dunn scored his two points in the fourth quarter.

Gieck also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds while Justin Lingo recorded a team-high two blocked shots.

In their tournament opener last Thursday, Belle faced off against the top-seeded and eventual tournament champion Newburg Wolves.

Held to six points in the first quarter and four in the third quarter, the Tigers could not overcome the lack of offense before falling 68-45 to Newburg.

Feeler and Dunn both scored 13 points to lead Belle against Newburg.

Thomas Lingo made it a trio of double-digit scorers against the Wolves finishing with 11 points.

Gieck chipped in five points while Justin Lingo capped Belle’s scoring against Newburg with three points.

Belle returns to action Friday night hosting Richland with the junior varsity game at 5:30 p.m.
