Finish in the top four.

That was the goal Saturday for Belle and Vienna High School track athletes during Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 1 and Class 2 Sectional track meet action at New Haven High School.

For Belle’s Aubrey Rehmert and 13 Vienna High School track athletes, their seasons will culminate Friday and Saturday during the MSHSAA Class 1 and 2 Track State Championships at the Dennis and Roberta Licklider Track Complex inside Atkins Stadium on the campus of Jefferson City High School.

Looking to sprint her way to state as an individual, Vienna’s Tori Schulte placed sixth in the Class 1 girls 100m dash in a time of 13.72.

Next on the track was Vienna sophomore Madison Weeks in the girls 400m dash.

Placing second in 1:04.37, Weeks punched her ticket to Jefferson City on Friday.

All four Vienna Lady Eagle relay teams will be competing this weekend in Jefferson City after they posted top-four finishes at New Haven.

Sprinting to a third-place time of 54.98 in the girls 4x100m relay was the Lady Eagle quartet of Jaedyn Schell, Andrea Novak, Weeks and Schell.

Also taking third in the girls 4x200m relay in a time of 1:56.12 was the Vienna foursome of Andrea Novak, Schulte, Schell and Weeks.

Closing the meet with a second-place time of 4:30.23 in the girls 4x400m relay  was the VHS team of Aubrey Reeves, Weeks, Schell and Schulte.

Placing third in the girls 4x800m relay in 11:07.31 was the Vienna squad of Claudia Wieberg, Reeves, Weeks and Schell.

Wieberg was one of three girls to clear 1.40 meters in the girls high jump but placed sixth based on misses at previous heights.

Senior Riley Rosentreter added to her VHS girls pole vault record clearing 3.05m (10 feet) to win a sectional title.

Julianna Davis also placed seventh clearing 2.00m in the girls pole vault.

Novak also placed sixth in the girls long jump with a leap of 4.35m.

Davis just missed advancing to state in the girls triple jump placing fifth with a mark of 9.65m.

Sophomore Ava Kloeppel entered sectionals with three chances to throw her way to state.

Competing in the girls shot put, Kloeppel punched her ticket to the capital city with a fourth-place throw of 10.28m in the event.

Later in the day during the discus, Kloeppel added to her state track weekend after a third-place throw of 29.43m in the girls discus.

Nearly completing the throwing trifecta, Kloeppel just missed competing in a third event at state after placing fifth with a throw of 27.32m in the girls javelin.

Fresh off district titles in the boys 400m and 800m races, Duncan Wilkinson looked to keep his seasons going in both events.

Starting with the 400m dash, Wilkinson placed third in a time of 53.35 to punch his ticket to Jefferson City.

Later in the meet, Wilkinson made it two events for him at state following a second-place time of 2:08.49 in the boys 800m run.

Junior Brayden Ewers became Vienna’s second distance runner to advance to state individually after winning the boys 3200m run in a time of 10:56.35.

Ewers added a second event to his state track itinerary with a fourth-place time of 47.32 in the boys 300m hurdles.

Like their Lady Eagle counterparts, Vienna’s boys were looking to send three relay teams to state.

Unfortunately, only one posted a top-four finish.

Taking third in a time of 9:05.63 was the Eagle 4x800m relay team of Jackson Kilmer, Thomas Douglas, Wilkinson and Ewers.

Taking sixth in the boys 4x400m relay ending the meet with a time of 3:53.42 was the Eagle squad of Troy Wulff, Wilkinson, Gabe Kleffner and Douglas.

Sprinting to a sixth-place time of 48.57 in the boys 4x100m relay was the VHS team of Gavin Schwartze, Eli Hayes, Kleffner and Kilmer.

Rosentreter will not be the only Vienna High School pole vaulter competing at the state meet.

Schwartze placed second clearing 3.35m in the boys pole vault.

Winning a district title in the boys long jump, Wulff placed seventh in the event at sectionals with a leap of 5.26m.

Belle’s Tigers and Lady Tigers were also in New Haven Saturday competing in their Class 2 sectional after also running in Shamrock land during their district meet the previous weekend.

Freshman Aubrey Schwartze emerged as the lone state qualifier for Belle High School in two events.

Fresh off breaking Susie Moman’s school record in the girls javelin, Rehmert won a sectional championship with a throw of 38.67m.

Based on results from other sectional meets, Rehmert currently has a three-meter lead on the field entering state competition on Friday.

Rehmert will also being throwing the discus at state this weekend after placing second with a throw of 32.62m.

Senior Hali Naber saw her BHS track career end after a sixth-place time of 13.26 in the girls 100m dash and an additional sixth-place time of 27.81 in the girls 200m dash.

Lady Tiger sophomore distance runner Tajel McDaniel saw her season end after a seventh-place time of 13:50.57 in the girls 3200m run.

Naber also competed in sectionals during the girls high jump clearing 1.30m placing her eighth.

Belle’s Lukas Smith and Myles Butler represented the Tigers in a pair of field events at sectionals.

Smith cleared 1.55m in the boys high jump to place seventh.

Butler also threw his way to an eighth-place mark of 33.13m in the boys discus.
