BELLE — Belle Board of Aldermen on March 10 approved the sale of the 2010 and 2012 Dodge Chargers and a 2008 Ford Expedition formerly used by Belle police for $5,036 via sealed bids.

The city received bids from 10 different people or entities for the vehicles. Bids were received from:

• William Moman — $1,500 for the 2010 Dodge Charger, and $2,012 for the 2012 Dodge Charger.

• Mike Woodruff — $526 for the 2008 Ford Expedition.

• Chicago Motors — $509 for the 2008 Ford Expedition, $1,209 for the 2010 Dodge Charger, and $3,009 for the 2012 Dodge Charger.

• John Hollandsworth bid $1,200 on the 2012 Dodge Charger.

• Perri Brooks bid $500 on the 2008 Ford Expedition.

• Kurt Seba bid $401 on the 2008 Ford Expedition and $501 pm the 2010 Dodge Charger.

• Jeff Newton bid $507 on the 2008 Ford Expedition, $307 on the 2010 Dodge Charger and $307 on the 2012 Dodge Charger.

• Bayridge Motors bid $368 on the 2008 Ford Expedition, $568 on the 2010 Dodge Charger and $1,668 on the 2010 Dodge Charger.

• Jesse Kelly bid $500 on the 2012 Dodge Charger.

• Arthur Maness bid $1,000 on the 2010 Dodge Charger.

The board went with the highest bidders on each vehicle. Alderman Tony Gieck made a motion to accept Mike Woodruff’s bid of $526 on the 2008 Ford Expedition, Chicago Motors’ bid of $3,009 on the 2012 Dodge Charger, and William Moman’s bid of $1,500 on the 2010 Dodge Charger.

Alderman Courtney Abel seconded the motion and it passed with a 4-0 vote.

“Do we have an account set up already for that money to go into?” Gieck asked

Treasurer Michelle Jones said no account had been set up yet.

“Do you want it in a separate account, or designate it into an account in our general account?” Jones asked.

Mayor Josh Seaver said to put the funds in a separate account where they couldn’t be touched. The city agreed last month to hold any funds from the sale of the former police department’s equipment in an account to save for an independent police department in the future, should the contract ever fail.

Seaver went over the printout that the Maries County Sheriff’s Department Belle Division provided the city for the first month of patrolling.

“Looks like we have zeros for February,” Seaver told the board. “They were writing tickets for March and April’s court dates, which is what this other print out is.”

The board received a second document outlining court cases for March.

“There is 20 some odd cases that are on the docket for March. That is why February shows all zeros,” Seaver said.

“They have been writing tickets for two months out,” Clerk Frankie Hicks clarified.

Marshal Joe Turnbough asked the board to approve the installation of a radio in the vehicle that was kept for him, and to have a headlight fixed.

“The car that I’m using, the sheriff’s office donated the radio to put in it ‘cause they are on different frequencies than what we normally have. It needs to be installed and I need permission to get the headlight fixed,” Turnbough told the board.

Seaver told Turnbough the board approved the radio to be installed last month, and they agreed the headlight needed to be fixed.

Turnbough asked where he should get the headlight fixed and the board said to take it to Hicks Auto.

“I got a quote for the radio and they gave two different ones — in shop labor and on site labor. I’m assuming if we want it done at A&W Communications, Inc., in Jefferson city we will leave it up there for a day or two. But if he comes down here it will cost more,” Turnbough said.

Gieck asked how much that would be.

“I’ll let you guys look at it. It says $750 down here. I think what it is, he has in shop labor and on-site labor,” Turnbough said.

Gieck asked Turnbough if he takes the car to Jefferson City,  it’s $360 or $490 if the guy comes to Belle?

“The price of the install is $750. I think if you add both of those together, you get your number,” Gieck said.

Gieck made a motion that once clarification was made on the in-shop price of $360 and the price is correct, to go ahead and have the radio installed.
