The presiding judge of the 25th Judicial Circuit issued an order Tuesday morning that the Belle Municipal Court will reopen at 5 p.m. on June 16 with safety guidelines in place.
The municipal court has been closed by order of the Missouri Supreme Court since March in response to the novel coronavirus COVID-19. All violations that were held from the previous three months will be heard on June 16. To help relieve the congestion, the judge agreed to open court at the Belle-Bland Community Center an hour-and-a-half ahead of schedule.
Court Clerk Barb Schaller said Tuesday morning that they will be practicing the state safety guidelines and will require social distancing.
“Only 10 people will be allowed inside court at one time — the rest will remain outside and chairs will be spaced accordingly,” Schaller said.
If anyone has questions about the court proceedings they may contact Schaller between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at 573-859-3513 Ext. 2.
