Trailing 9-3 at the start of the second quarter, Evin Farris’ Lady Tigers went on a 6-2 run on two Chloe Krause buckets and a Natalie Gehlert basket trimming Steelville’s lead to 11-9 at the 5:44 mark of the second quarter.
Answered by a 7-0 Lady Cardinal run, Gehlert hit a free throw at the 4:07 mark of the first half to stop Steelville’s latest run.
Smith went on to score Belle’s final four points of the first half leaving the host Lady Tigers trailing Steelville 28-14 at halftime.
Naomi Perkins led SHS with 10 first-half points while Smith paced Belle with seven first-half markers.
Although the scoring picked up in the third quarter, the Lady Tigers found themselves trailing their Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) foes 49-30 with one quarter of basketball to play.
Outside of baskets from Miranda Sanders and Nevaeh Kinsey, Smith carried the scoring load in the third quarter with 12 points.

Krause also reached double figures for the Lady Tigers with 10 points while adding six rebounds, four assists and four steals.
