BELLE — The Belle Fall Festival hosted by local Alvarado Avenue business owners kicked off last Saturday with the coronation of Mr. and Miss contest winners.
Mr. Kolson Ridenhour and Miss Ryleigh Baumgartner were named the winners of the contest, according to Corina Jacquin, Heavenly Homemade owner and co-planner for the event.
Supporters of the Mr. and Miss contestants dropped money into jars at Legends Bank and Maries County Bank to vote. The proceeds will be donated to the Maries County R-2 Schools.
“The day went well,” Jacquin said on Tuesday. “Over $700 was raised for negative lunch balances at the Maries R-2 Schools.”
Gabby Scott with Ruth & Co. Worked with vendors, including pumpkins for sale that were grown in Vienna, Scentsy, creative custom tumblers, and home-sewn baby blankets to name a few.
Bob’s Frozen Custard provided coffee and ice cream. Mark Morgan, the Maries County’s Republican sheriff’s candidate, was present selling gun raffle tickets at his campaign stand. Located nearby, Daryl White, Jr., former Belle mayor and business owner, grilled free hot dogs. A Lemonade Stand and confectionery stand were also located in the food court between Ruth & Co. and Blosom’s Boutique. Wagon Wheel Flowers & Gifts and Maries County R-2 School Board member Ashely Harris contributed to the event as well.
Local churches provided free kids’ games, a bounce house, and prizes near Heavenly Homemade. Moca Head Start had a crafts table where children made a scarecrow. A petting zoo included chickens, rabbits, sheep and a horse. Belle First Responders assisted with traffic control, the Osage EMS gave kiddos a tour through an ambulance, and Ralicia Tyler with Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I brought a vehicle rollover simulator and remote control police car.
Bob’s Frozen Custard was in charge of the car show, which included a variety of makes and models.
Overall, the five-hour event was well-attended.
A White Christmas event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 21 on Alvarado Avenue, to be followed by a 6 p.m. parade. According to the Belle Community Betterment Association, which is partnering with Ruth & Co. and Heavenly Homemade, the Downtown Christmas event will include pictures with Santa, pony rides, face painting, and more.
