Neither Maries R-2 Board of Education or Belle Board of Aldermen have received new filings for the April election since last week according to officials at each facility.

No filings have occurred at the Maries R-2 Board of Education since filing opened Tuesday, Dec. 15 at the Administration Building, 503 W. Third Street, Belle. Filing closes at 5 p.m. on Jan. 19. Incumbent school board directors for the two available three-year terms are held by Tom Kinsey and Kenda Sanders.

Candidates may submit their intention to file at the Administration Building from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Filing will not occur on days the district is closed due to COVID-19, inclement weather or during winter break on Dec. 22 through Jan. 4, 2021.

Contact Sara Rehmert at 573-859-3800 for more information.

The Belle Board of Aldermen had two candidates declare their intent to run for aldermen, one in each ward. The board has two seats open in April, held by former Ward 2 Alderman Tony Gieck, who stepped down Dec. 8, and Ward 1 Alderman Courtney Abel.

For the Ward 1 Alderman seat, former mayor Josh Seaver declared his intentions at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 15, to run for office.

For the Ward 2 Alderman seat, Terrance R. Connors, owner of Connors Country Lodge, declared his intentions at 3:15 p.m. on Dec. 22 at City Hall.

Filing for office must be submitted at the end of business on Jan. 19 at City Hall. For more information, contact City Clerk Frankie Hicks at 859-3513.

The city of Bland, known mostly for their write-in candidates, had two file on Tuesday.

During business hours on Dec. 22, Alderman Mark Ferran filed his candidacy at 2 p.m., closely followed around 3:15 p.m. by incumbent Diana Mayfield. The Bland Board of Aldermen has two two-year terms and one one-year term for alderman at-large seats.

The two-year seats are currently held by Mayfield, who was elected to the position, and Ned Steiner, who was appointed in November to replace Alderman Sherry Spradling.

The one-year term is currently held by Ferran, who was appointed in October to replace Tommy Thompson.
