A productive past few months.
That was the case for four Bland and Belle area members of the Mid-America Acro and Tumbling Team (MAATT).
Beginning with the Missouri Acro State Championships at Riverbend Middle School in Pacific back on April 20-21, three state champions were crowned with Belle and Bland ties.
Dennise Butler and Everly Jackson won a state title as a Level 7 11U Women’s Pair while Kali Mayfield-Bayhylle and Clara Baxter placed right behind them in second.
Ellie Gray and Addison Fritzemeyer also won a state title for MAATT as a 13-and-up Level 6 Women’s Pair.
Malorie Reasor and Henlie Adkison left Pacific with a silver medal following their second-place finish as a Level 7 16+ Women’s Pair.
Also at state, MAATT’s Level 7 teams claimed the first-place team award while their Level 6 teams claimed the second-place team award.
Regional competition during the Region 4 Championships at Delta Woods Middle School in Lee’s Summit, Mo., saw three of the previously-mentioned teams claim gold medals.
Held from May 18-19, Reasor and Adkison improved on their showing at state to win a gold medal at regionals.
Butler and Jackson added a regional title to their state championship while Gray and Fritzemeyer also added regional gold to their state gold.
Mayfield-Bayhylle and Baxter placed fourth at regionals to advance to national competition.
MAATT earned the third-place team award for Level 6, while Level 7 athletes earned MAATT a second-place team award.
Dennise’s mom Amanda Butler was presented with the Unsung Hero award following regional competition.
At the USA Gymnastics Championships in Minneapolis, MN., from June 21-26, MAATT had the top two 11U Women’s Pairs in the nation.
Butler and Jackson completed their triple crown with a national championship while Mayfield-Bayhylle and Baxter improved on their finish at regionals with a second-place finish at nationals good for a silver medal.
Following national competition, Butler’s team along with Mayfield-Bayhylle’s team was named to the Rising Star Team.
