The city of Belle is searching for two residents to serve in the aldermen Ward 2 seats as Sundi Jo Graham plans to step down and former alderman Ken Stanfield on April 11 announced his immediate resignation.

Belle Mayor Josh Seaver said Monday morning that Graham has yet to post an official resignation.

“She hasn’t submitted her formal resignation at this time,” Seaver said. “Anyone in that ward whom is interested in filling either seat should contact me or the City Administration Building be placed on the list for consideration.”

While Graham has not made an official statement about vacating her alderman position, she announced on her personal Facebook page on April 23 that she plans to relocate to Branson in June. Aldermen must live within the city limits in order to serve on the board.

Graham was re-elected to her seat on April 5. Anyone interested in filling her seat will only need to be available for an interim alderman until the next available election when a new official may be appointed.

Likewise, Stanfield isn’t up for re-election until April 2023. Whoever takes over his position will have the opportunity for a regular two-year term next April.
