BCBA holds ribbon cutting for Highway 42 Produce
Belle Community Betterment Association (BCBA) on Sept. 28 hosted a grand opening for Highway 42 Produce located at 21560 Highway 42, Belle. Free hot dogs, chips and drinks as well as sample veggie and fruit trays were available for anyone who stopped to browse the selection. Local owners Dale and Alice Kennedy started a produce stand in March at their home. Alice Kennedy said, “It was time to take a different path in life after working at PEP for four years. So, I decided to try a produce market for Belle and the surrounding areas.” She purchased 10 flats of strawberries to sell from a table in her front yard and saved every penny to purchase a variety of fruits and vegetables. Since then, they converted their garage into a full produce store with a large selection of fruits and vegetables. Adding jams, spices, local honey, and shrimp, she also offers freeze dried goodies from WN Farmstand, along with items for local crafters. They are now introducing fruit and veggie trays in two sizes, including small which feeds 15-20 people and large feeds 30-40 people. Both trays come with a homemade dip. Orders need to be placed a week in advance unless otherwise discussed and will be made on the day of pick up. Her goal is to stay open all year long to provide the community with fresh and affordable fruits and vegetables. An open sign at the is at the entrance of their parking lot. They are open on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
