Arnold Clyde Bassett, 78, Dixon, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Phelps Health, Rolla.

He was born Aug. 7, 1942, to Clyde Elmer and Neva Faye (Doyel) Bassett, near Dixon.

He was united in marriage to Donna May Newberry, May 23, 1964, in Dixon.

Arnold was a member of Kenner Church of God, Dixon; a past officer and more than 50-year member of Arlington Lodge No. 346 A.F. & A.M., Dixon; member and Past Patron of Garnet Chapter No. 283 Order of the Eastern Star, Dixon; member and past president of Dixon Lions Club, Dixon; board member and past president of Pulaski County Sheltered Workshop; a 53-year member of Dixon Rural Fire Protection District, serving 23 years as president; and served on the committee to construct the new Pulaski County courthouse. He was owner and operator, along with his wife, Donna, of the Bassett Real Estate for 50 years and Bassett Insurance for 32 years, both in Dixon.

He was preceded in death by parents, Clyde and Faye; and brothers, Roy Luke Bassett and Willis Dean Bassett.

He is survived by wife, Donna; sons, Bryan Arnold Bassett and wife Sharon Kay of Ballwin, Kent Edward Bassett and wife Melinda “Mindy” of Dixon and Brent Allen Bassett and wife Nichole of Dixon; siblings, Robert “Bob” Bassett and wife Pat of Columbia, Kenneth Bassett and wife Susan of St. Robert and Marilyn Davis and husband Marty of Rolla; sisters-in-law, Lela Bassett of Davey, Neb., and Marilyn Bassett of Vienna; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 15, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. with funeral services following with Pastor Beverly Sharp officiating, all at Kenner Church of God, Dixon. Inurnment will be in Kenner Cemetery. Memorial contributions suggested to Kenner Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
