VIENNA — The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. on March 17 at the Vienna United Methodist Church.
Anyone planning to donate blood will need to present a blood donor card, a driver’s license or two other forms of identification at check-in. Other eligibility requirements include being 17 years old (or 16 years old with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health. Requirements may vary for high school students and other donors 18 years old or younger.
The Red Cross recommends donors get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast or lunch, drink extra water and fluids, avoid caffeinated beverages and eat iron-rich foods before donating.
Blood donors can download the American Red Cross Blood Donor app, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org.
