Last week the Phelps-Maries County Health Department reported the number of active COVID-19 cases in both Phelps and Maries Counties are on the decline.
At the peak on Nov. 23, 2020, the health department said it was averaging 66 new cases reported each day. Currently the average is 15 new cases reported each day. With response efforts shifting to vaccination, the department urges citizens to continue to take appropriate precautions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within the communities. This means continuing to wear masks, practice social distancing, and hand washing.
On Jan. 28, the department reported 14 active COVID-19 cases in Maries County, 720 persons released from isolation, and 14 deaths. Phelps County had 103 active cases, 3,987 released from isolation, and 115 deaths.
