Dear Editor:
Everybody in Congress seems so ‘nice’. They’re so eloquent, using words like “Honorable, Mister, Madam, and so on.” This oozing politeness is in contrast to what must surely be utter contempt, like that shown to the House of Representatives by the Senate on 4/17/2024. Despite demonstrating a hard-fought slim majority, the House’s vote to impeach the Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, was dismissed by the Senate along party lines, without the least bit of curiosity over the charges, as if it were a summer fly. Pfffft, go away, shoo fly!!
Despite political differences, you’d think every one of these Democrat Senators that voted to dismiss would give their House counterparts at least the professional courtesy to hear the evidence out. Not so much, as Chuck Schumer, the Senate Majority Leader, quickly declared the charges did not meet the "high crimes and misdemeanors" requirements for an impeachment, and all the Democrat bobbleheads agreed.
I confess, sometimes I even question the conviction of my own party, as I see the latest fiasco of the House approving a $95 billion expenditure for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan and not one thin dime to straighten this continuing mess at the border. This on the heels of Senator Lankford’s Senate bill in February that just proposed more babysitting money and no teeth to slow down the border rush.
Lately, many on the Left express their concern that ‘Fascism’ is growing on the Right; that Trump (if elected) won’t leave office after four years; he’ll be a dictator, a threat to freedom. Excuse me!! Which party mandated vaccines and discharged military members that would not comply, who mandated masks and closed schools for kids long after those initiatives were proven ineffective, who labeled parents ‘terrorist’ that just wanted to know what the heck was happening with their kids or were praying in front of Planned Parenthood Abortion Clinics, who’s cramming EVs and Green Energy Programs down our throats that make no sense, and who has opened our borders for their own self-serving purposes despite the borders being under control just a few short years ago. If you don’t support Joe’s transgender policies in your school, there goes the school lunch program. Not a single Democrat White House initiative comes without some sort of compulsion element to it.
The impeachment trial was halted by Schumer to avoid the truckloads of evidence demonstrating the ulterior motives of all this Border stuff. The Border crisis is all about bolstering sagging population centers and boosting opportunities for increased Dem representation in Congress and, dare I say it, illegal voting. Mayorkas’ ‘I’m doing the best I can’ speech is getting old; we all know it’s a lie. Time to identify the puppeteer, not the puppet!!
