Waitress hit by bullet fragment during Vichy Wye armed robbery

VICHY — The three people working at the Vichy Wye Restaurant on Sunday evening were cleaning up after the day’s work when two men wearing masks, gloves and clothing covering their entire bodies entered the restaurant and attempted to hold up the place with a handgun.

Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman has reported the Vichy Wye Restaurant at 13990 Highway 63 South near Vichy, was the scene of an armed robbery Sunday night, with shots fired and a waitress injured during the foray.

A waitress at the Vichy Wye said the two men came in through the back door at about 8:50 p.m. The front door was locked because the restaurant closed at 8 p.m., but the back door had not been locked because they were using it. The men got $20 from the liquor store but nothing from the restaurant’s register. The men tried to steal tips from a waitress’s apron, but didn’t look in the correct pocket and failed to find the tip money. They did take her phone, shoes and her wallet with over $100 in it.

They also fired one round into the floor and a fragment of the bullet or the concrete floor hit the leg of a waitress, Emily, but it is reported that she will be okay.

Heitman on Monday morning said the suspects in the armed robbery are two black males.

He expected law enforcement to have the two in custody by the end of the week as he said they have good evidence.

The entire incident was caught on camera and the sheriff’s office has this to help in its investigation.

Persons with information about the crime are encouraged to contact Detective Kilmer at the sheriff’s office. As a reminder, the suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
