Visitation, Holy Guardian Angels churches hold VBS at KC Hall

Visitation and Holy Guardian Angels Parishes held another successful Vacation Bible School (VBS) last week at Visitation’s Knights of Columbus-Koerber Hall in Vienna.

The VBS theme was, “ROAR - Life is Wild; God is good!” and 35 students enjoyed the program during the week.

Mendy James, Religious Education Leader and Lindsay Otto, VBS Director, assigned 30 volunteers into seven teams. The set design and decoration team consisted of T.J. Jeremy, Courtney Jeremy, Jordyn Steffen, Dani Murphy, and Elizabeth Veasman. They transformed the hall entrance, gym, and cafeteria into a safari adventure complete with expedition backdrops, wild animal figures, and jungle vines. The classroom leaders and assistants included Ruth Barnhart, Joyce Kilmer, Jena Schwartze, Jan Libbert, Lauren Libbert, Paige Breeding, Amanda Cremer, Jordyn Steffen, Lauren Rowden, Kelly Edwards, Sarah Jones, Brayden Ewers, Brian Kilmer, Maggie Veasman, Sierra Kilmer, and Austin Veasman. Meals were prepared by Korbey and Crystelle Canuto, Dianne Helton, Cindy Ewers, and Bev Otto. Craft time was led by Sarah Rowden and Elizabeth Veasman. Courtney Jeremy led the music sessions and while Crystal Wieberg showed the Kid-Vid. The students’ bible adventure class lessons were led by Mendy James in the school building. During the final evening the VBS students sang and danced to a proud crowd of parents, grandparents, and a community of friends.

Both parishes set up giving trees in their respective church vestibules with items listed on paper leaves for the activity. Due to the generous response, a free meal was available to the 35 students and volunteers during the VBS. Visitation and Holy Guardian Angels Parishes thank Vienna United Methodist Church for their collaboration with the VBS theme, “ROAR - Life is Wild; God is good!” and decorations. Bible school volunteers said they are thankful for all the donations including time and talent that made possible such a wonderful faith filled opportunity for the students.
