Dispatching Bourbon’s Warhawks in the first round of the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Class 3, District 9 baseball tournament Friday at Cuba High School, Chris Feeler’s Belle Tigers took on Linn’s Wildcats Monday night with a spot in the title game on the line.

Leading 3-2 through five innings, Belle saw Linn score six unanswered runs ending their season at 15-8 following an 8-3 loss in eight innings in the second of two district semifinals contests.

Playing through a scoreless first inning, the Tigers saw the Wildcats score a run on three hits in the top of the second inning for a 1-0 lead.

Belle had an answer in the bottom of the third inning after Levi Fortner held Linn scoreless in the top half of the third.

Mason Butler led things off with a double before Ethan Loughridge delivered a two-out RBI single tying the game at 1-1 after three innings from Cuba.

After a scoreless fourth inning, both teams crossed the plate in their respective halves of the fifth inning.

Wildcat center fielder Parker Patterson reached on an error and scored giving Linn a 2-1 lead moving to the bottom of the fifth inning.

Adding to his third-inning double, Butler walked and scored to tie the game at 2-2 when Lane Feeler reached on error.

Feeler later scored giving Belle a 3-2 lead on a Loughridge RBI single to right field.

Limited to five walks over the final three innings, Belle’s Tigers saw their season end one win shy of the district title game.

Linn will face Osage County rival Fatima in the district championship game tonight (Wednesday) at 6 p.m., in Cuba.
