To the Editor:
The citizens of Maries County are proud of our court house. About 20 years ago, we voted to impose a sales tax to renovate the court house and make it handicap accessible. This was a great improvement and the court house and grounds look great. Joe does a good job of keeping it clean and neat.
However, recently at the outside smoking areas, people have been throwing cigarette butts and packaging on the ground. Also people standing in these areas are putting their feet on the building and staining the concrete.
People have the right to smoke and probably don’t think that their cigarette butt is a big deal, but hundreds of them make a real eyesore as do the skuffs on the side of the building.
Cleaning up these areas takes time that could better used inside or on the grounds. If you use these areas while you are at our court house, please dispose of trash properly.
