Maries R-1 School Nurse Lindsay Otto was recognized for her bravery and competence by the school board, school staff, and administration for saving a life this summer by doing CPR on a young girl.
Maries R-1 Superintendent Mark Parker, at the school board’s August meeting, presented Nurse Otto with a Certificate of Bravery, which was signed by himself and School Board President Cindy Petershagen.
Parker said Nurse Otto “had an eventful summer” as while on vacation at a hotel pool in St. Louis, Nurse Otto used CPR to save a young girl’s life. Nurse Otto was courageous and quick thinking as she used her CPR skills to save a child from drowning. Parker said they are proud and privileged to have her working at the school district. Nurse Otto was emotional when accepting the award. She said she was doing God’s work at that moment.
