Lewis “Louie” Earl Barnhart, 96, Meta, died Monday, May 20, 2019, at Maries Manor in Vienna.

He was born April 7, 1923, to Loman and Nellie (Lee) Barnhart, in Meta.

He was united in marriage to Mary (Hickey) Barnhart, Sept. 8, 1942, in Dixon.

Louie was a lifetime farmer and worked for Couples Aluminum Products, Missouri State Penitentiary and Patio Chef in Meta until his retirement. He attended the Church of Nazarene for all of his life.

He was preceded in death by parents, Loman and Nellie; two sisters; and seven brothers.

He is survived by wife, Mary; children, Earlyn (Barnhart) Hoppas of Vienna, Shelby Barnhart and wife Cheryl and Billy Barnhart and wife Marlene, all of Meta, and Phyllis (Barnhart) Shanks and husband Darrell of Vienna; brother, Roscoe Barnhart of St. Charles; and eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 23, at Ricker Memorial Church of the Nazarene, Van Cleve, with Bro. Bob Hamm and Bro. Manuel Seaton officiating. Interment was in Pendleton Cemetery near Meta. Memorial contributions suggested to Ricker Memorial Church of the Nazarene.
