Lady Tigers make it eight in a row

Playing three games last week on the road in a span of five days, Evin Farris’ Belle Lady Tigers looked to build on their five-game winning streak.

Facing Calvary Lutheran’s Lady Lions in Jefferson City last Monday night, the Lady Tigers outscored the host Lady Lions 43-16 after nursing a 14-12 lead through one quarter of their 57-28 road victory.

Halle Smith netted 14 of her game-high 22 points in the first half to be joined in double figures by sophomore Gracie Schultz with 10 points.

Chloe Krause just missed double digits for the Lady Tigers scoring eight of her nine points in the first half.

 Erin Schalk and Olivia Sanders both kicked in four points while Lauren Prigge added two points in the fourth quarter rounding out Belle’s scoring against Calvary Lutheran.

Playing a little bit closer to home last Tuesday night, Belle ventured into Osage County to take on Chamois’ Lady Pirates.

Trailing 14-10 after one quarter and 32-31 going into the fourth quarter, Belle needed a 10-5 edge in the final eight minutes to shipwreck the Lady Pirates, 41-37.

Smith paced the Lady Tiger offense with 18 points only to be outdone for game-high scoring honors by Chamois’ Katie Keilholz’s 19 points.

Sanders narrowly missed double figures scoring six of her nine points in the first half.

Krause also did most of her damage in the first half netting six of her eight markers in the first 16 minutes.

Schultz added all four of her points in the second half followed by a Grace Busch bucket for two points in the second quarter of Belle’s road win at Chamois.

Playing their third road game of the week, Farris’ Lady Tigers ventured into Cole County to take on Russellville’s Lady Indians.

Down 34-32 going into the fourth quarter, Belle outscored the host Lady Indians 22-13 in the final eight minutes to run their win streak to eight in a row following a 54-47 road victory.

Krause picked up the scoring slack in Cole County with a game-high 18 points that saw 12 of them come in the second half.

Schultz reached double figures with 14 points while Smith made it a trio of Lady Tigers in double figures adding a dozen points with eight of them coming in the second half.

Sanders added six markers while Busch rounded out the varsity scoring for Belle with four points.

Saturday morning, both JV girl’s squads for Belle and Russellville were able to play a full four quarters.

Trailing at the end of the first, second and third quarters, Belle outscored Russellville 10-4 in the final seven minutes to escape Cole County with a 33-29 victory.

Faith Gieck netted seven of her game-high 12 points in the second half while Schalk did also did all of her damage in the second 16 minutes with eight points.

Prigge chipped in five points while Kierra Finn and Maddie Rohrer each kicked in two points for the victorious JV Lady Tigers.

Last night (Tuesday) on their home floor, Farris’ Lady Tigers made it nine in a row with a 54-45 victory over New Bloomfield’s Lady Wildcats.
