Fugitive captured in Belle

Shay M. Vinson, 22, of Belle, a fugitive wanted in Gasconade County, was arrested last week in Belle without incident and is being held at the Osage County jail.

Drug charges are being sought in Osage County as a result of methamphetamines, marijuana and paraphernalia found in Vinson’s possession during his arrest.

According to Deputy Art Strickland’s probable cause statement, he and Belle Marshal Joe Turnbough traveled to Vinson’s residence on CR 738 on Nov. 9.

While Turnbough spoke with a woman at the front door, Strickland covered the rear of the house, and saw Vinson attempting to run out the back door. When he saw the deputy, Vinson retreated into the house, and was found hiding in a closet.

After being taken into custody, Vinson reportedly told officers that all illicit items in the bedroom belonged to him, including a needle loaded with methampethamines, 1.41 grams of marijuana pre-packaged for sale, and .70 grams of meth hidden in a closet. Paraphernalia was also found.

Vinson was already facing in Gasconade County charges filed Oct. 26 for possession of a controlled substance, with bond set at $5,000, and charges filed Oct. 18, also in Gasconade County, including driving while suspended or revoked, failure to stop at a stop sign, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident and resisting arrest. A warrant was issued for his arrest after he failed to appear at a Nov. 7 hearing and bond was set at $15,000.
