VIBURNUM — After competing in Cuba during last year’s Gasconade Valley Conference (GVC) Golf Tournament, Belle High School golf coach Scott Moran and his contingency of golfers made the over hour-long trek into Iron County and Viburnum Golf and Country Club for this year’s GVC Tournament.

Battling gusty winds throughout the entire day, Belle’s Gavin Snodgrass fired an 18-hole round of 97 finishing sixth place overall and was the lone Tiger golfer to earn All-GVC honors for finishing in the top seven.

Cuba captured the GVC team title shooting a combined score of 361 between their four golfers.

They nearly had all five of their golfers earn All-GVC status.

Shooting a tournament-low round of 84, Cuba’s Jonathan Bayless won the tournament and was followed closely behind by teammates Austin Shockley (88) and Pavin Clark (90).

Steelville’s Courtney Lee (92) and Jackson Case (93) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Following Snodgrass and finishing tied for seventh were Cuba’s Conor Workman and Viburnum’s Michael Turnbough.

Belle golfers also competing along with Snodgrass included Brett Butler placing 12th overall carding an 18-hole round of 123.

Chloe Krause also fired an 18-hole round of 125 to place 14th individually. Peyton Moran rounded out Belle’s contingency of golfers with a round of 130 to place 16th.

Following GVC team champion Cuba in the team standings were Steelville (436), Viburnum (466) and Belle (475).

BHS golf will end their regular season with a meet at Cuba on Thursday, April 18 before competing in the Crocker Tournament on Wednesday, April 24.

District play will take Belle to The Falls Golf Club in O’Fallon on Monday, April 29 in the MSHSAA Class 1, District 5 Tournament against golfers from Christian (O’Fallon), Duchesne, Herculaneum, Linn, Lutheran St. Charles, Maplewood-Richmond Heights, Trinity Catholic, Valley Park and Whitfield.
