Scoring a 1-0 victory Monday night over Iberia, Scott Moran’s Belle Tiger soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak.

Moran’s Tigers also hit the road last night (Tuesday) to take on Crocker’s Lions. Information from that match was not available by press time and will be available in next week’s Maries County Advocate.

Having today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) off, Belle will prepare to host their annual soccer tournament beginning Friday afternoon at the Kingsford Soccer Complex located just outside of the city limits of Belle.

Tournament action will begin Friday afternoon when Richland’s Bears will face Iberia’s Rangers at 2 p.m. That will be followed by the host Belle Tigers facing Maranatha Baptist Academy at 5 p.m. looking for second win against them in as many tries.

Saturday games will begin at 10 a.m., with the losers of the Richland-Iberia and Belle-Maranatha games facing each other for third place followed by the winners playing for the tournament championship at 2 p.m., outside of Belle.

Student-athletes competing for the host Tigers include seniors Logan Miller and Luke Akins.

Peyton Moran, Dru Baumgartner and Gavin Snodgrass are the lone juniors on the team along with sophomores Aiden Craigmiles, Brandon Renaud, Derek Craig, Jace Gieck and Caleb Miller.

Freshmen rounding out Moran’s Belle Tiger soccer squad include Jason White, Shane Baumgartner and Will Doss.

Following their tournament, Belle will host Osage and Dixon next Monday and Tuesday respectively.
