Annual Belle Fair Trivia Night had over 200 people in attendance Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Belle/Bland Community Center. Over $5500 was raised towards the Maries Country R-II Belle Elementary Playground Project.
Many participants dressed up to coincide with the 90’s theme. Some costumes in attendance were MC Hammer; Monica Lewinsky, joined by Bill and Hillary Clinton; Mrs. Doubtfire; Tim the Tool Man Taylor along with his sidekick, Al; and more.
Best decorated table went to Amy Curry and friends, and first place went to the table of Georgia Jones. Curry’s table won $10 worth of meal tickets for each participant and Jones’ table won $100, which they graciously donated back to the fundraiser. Shannon Nelson won the lottery board, featuring over $300 worth of tickets.
Guests answered multiple categories of questions related to the 90’s, including sports, Belle Fair history, fashions and fads, Belle history, news in the 90’s, music, movies, and more.
Participants also took part in a silent auction bidding on multiple baskets, including movie-themed baskets, picnic baskets, and a wine baskets. The live dessert auction, hosted by Roger Stockton of Stockton Auction Services, offered a variety of sweet snacks, including a carousel cake.
The Belle Elementary School is currently working on a matching grant to help fund the project. The equipment they’re seeking to replace was installed in 1999 and has provided hundreds of hours of entertainment for students prior to its demise.
